After last years average Modern Warfare 3, I was sceptical about Black Ops 2, but pre ordered anyway (as a fan). I can now say 3 days after release that I'm glad I did, it's great!

So to keep it brief:

It felt immediately like a fresh new beginning to the franchise. The 1989/2025 transitions are well done with the different weapons and a realistic approach to what weapons may be like in the coming years.
The 'big bad' of this game could be a James Bond villain, his story is well told. As is the continuing story of Woods/Mason from the original game.
Only downside is, once again, the campaign which stars Tony Todd's likeness and voice as your superior in the 2025 missions, isn't very long but as we've come to expect, the main selling point of these games is online multiplayer which is better than ever.

Back in the day playing multiplayer would be something to do after you've finished the main game, in COD's case, it's often the opposite.
The online this time round is feeling a lot more meatier, the weapon handling, add on's and new perk system are great and work brilliantly and make it as addictive as ever.
Zombies are back and have also been given a make over in the sense that it has more of an adventure/story feel to it and a much bigger map to run about in.

Overall, Black Ops 2 is a great addition to the shooter world and I highly recommend it!

Campaign: ****
Online: *****

*Also a damn shame that people are reviewing Amazon's delivery service on the game review section. Thanks to them, the rating is 3 stars when it should really be about 4 based on the ACTUAL reviews. Use your common sense people. Complain to Amazon, NOT the game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stick with it.............!!!!, 18 Nov 2012
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
First thing first I consider myself a decent cod player with an average K/D ratio of 1.50ish and have been a fan of the games since MW1. Gonna try and break this down into campaign, muliplayer and zombies so bear with me!

1: Campaign, if you have played a cod game before then you will know what to expect, if not imagine a Michael Bay film turned into a game and your pretty much there. It weaves between the 80's and the near future, starts off with a bang then IMO loses its way a bit but then picks up about half way through to a cracking last few missions. Don't really need to say much about the new strike force missions other than lets hope it was an experiment and hopefully stays that way! the branching story missions are quite cool and add a fair bit of replay value to what would otherwise be a 6-8 hour campaign, plus if your anything like me you will want to play through again just to see how different things are!

2:Multiplayer, after reading other reviews and some forums it seem like this is the most hated cod ever!!! campers paradise, poor hit detection, bad spawn points, crap maps blah blah blah............!!! And to be honest my first few matches I felt the same to the point where I was swearing like a trooper at my tv! But i remember i felt exactly the same way about mw2,blops1,and mw3,and after persevering with them i came to really enjoy them and get better. So I decided to give it more time and after a bit of time spent in combat training and learning the generally layout of the maps Im really starting to enjoy and get better, yes there are still issues particually with the spawning and campers (bloody hate campers!!!) but give it time the spawn issues will be sorted and as for campers if they want to crouch in a dark corner for 10 mins thats there problem, just check those corners and if one kills you there generally stupid enough to stay/go back to that same corner for the entire match. Just try and remember cod is for (at least) the next 12 months not just for Christmas!!!

3:Zombies. I hated the zombie mode in the first black ops, so i approached it with a bit of caution, and guess what?..........I found myself really enjoying it the new "tranzit" and "grief" modes add a lot to the experience the former being where you travel around the maps on a bus and have a limited time on each map before the bus moves on (don't get left behind!!!) and the latter having two teams of 4 against each other against the zombie hordes until only one team is left(you carn't hurt the other team but you can hinder them, blocking doorways and paths to weapons)Just a bit of advise, play with friends if at all possible as ive found when playing with ramdoms you can revive someone loads but when you fall they just ignore you! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

All in all I think Black ops 2 is a good game and though not without its issues (most of which can be and hopefully will be fixed)is good fun and value for money.
Just please if at first you dont like try and stick with it and like me you could learn to like it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, 22 Nov 2012

So the call of duty development team have finally listened to player feedback. And this is a corker of a game!

Campaign/Single Player

Lots of little improvements make the stories I love even more entertaining. Facial expressions are beautiful, set pieces are more epic. You can customise your weapon loadout completely & there's choices of routes and ways to play that determine which of the multiple endings that you can come out with! This gives me incentive to do it a few times, it's like being in a movie

Multiplayer

I've played each cod multiplayer continuously since cod4 in 2007, and it's still as addictive as ever! Killstreaks are gone and you now call in uav's and care packages etc by your score etc!

If you love for series you'll love this, and of you haven't played cod before now is the perfect time to get into it!
